Atlantic City Casinos
Atlantic City is a great gambling town, in fact, without the gambling the town wouldn't have much to offer. Now is a great time to visit Atlantic City as most of the casinos have expanded. There's a rebirth going on and it's a great time to be a gamble in Atlantic City. Especially for poker players.
If you can't make it to Vegas, then go to Atlantic City. It's the #2 gaming market in the country and for good reason. You've got all the big players with casinos: MGM, CAESARS, HARRAHS, TRUMP , and the list goes on. There's plenty for your wife or girlfriend to do. And there's plenty to do for those of you with both a wife and a girlfriend as well and plenty of casinos to keep them in so they never run into each other. You've got clubs, restaurants, theaters, rides, and much more. And for us they've got POKER!
It may surprise you but not every casino in Atlantic City carries poker. You'll find this in most gambling markets. The reason is that the number one source of revenue for casinos is slot machines. Casinos make more than double with slots than with table games. And poker is much different than other games like blackjack or roulette. The reason is that with poker you are not playing against the casino. When you play blackjack it is you vs. the casino. They take all the money that you lose. This is not the case with poker. The casino takes a set standard fee out of every pot. If you lose they do not make more money. You are wagering your money against the other poker players and not the casino. So the casino knows it can only make a certain amount of money with poker. It all depends on how many tables they can have and how many players will play. Some of the casinos in Atlantic City are older and did not plan ahead when they opened. They have limited space and can not afford to alot any of it to poker. It's a real shame. However, most of the major casinos do carry poker and there's none more famous for poker than The Trump Taj Majal.
THE TRUMP TAJ MAJAL: Donald Trump likes to do everything bigger and better than everyone else. And his world famous poker room is no exception. Anyone who has ever seen the movie Rounders knows about this room. That movie has made the Taj the benchmark in Atlantic City for poker players. The room is huge and it's beautiful. The chandaleres that dangle from the ceiling will have you in awe. There's gold everywhere. And the best thing about all of Trumps properties are the cocktail waitresses. Trumps girls look good and dress even better. Nothing makes me happier than sitting in Trumps poker room with a beer in my hand and one eye on my soon to be straight and the other eye on that hot cocktail waitress asking me what else I need. What I would like to tell her. Ok, honestly, go to the Taj Majal and try the room out. Every type of poker is available and the room is brightly lit and has plenty of space. This is the 5 star must play in poker room in Atlantic City. And because of Rounders, this may be the best place to play poker in the whole country. TAJ MAJAL RATING- 5 STARS
THE SANDS: The Sands is one of Atlantic Citys oldest casinos. And it shows. This was once THEE hot spot. Frank Sinatra was a regular. But now, it's an old decaying casino that has seen better days. Rescued from bankruptcy the casino struggles to make a profit. It's small, it's old, and it's had a bad relationship with poker. The last time I was there they decided to put the poker room on the third level and share it with the horse parlor. It's a dive. The waitresses aren't hot and they're not friendly. The room is dimly lit. There's not many tables. It's a hassle to find the poker room and you have to take those old shaky Sands elevators. There's plenty of better places to play on the boardwalk. Avoid the sands. THE SANDS RATING- 1 STAR
THE BORGATA: Atlantic Citys newest casino is the Borgata. It's the best casino in Atlantic City and it's owned by MGM. They brought Las Vegas to Atlantic City. You will not find hotter cocktail waitresses anywhere. They even did a a calendar layout. These girls are model caliber. There's plenty of clubs in the Borgata. It's the place to be. Great restaurants, plenty of room and of course poker. Now they put their poker room on the bottom floor off of the casino. There's a great snack bar down there and I recomend the pastrami or philly cheese steak. There's horses close by if you need a break from the tables and want to throw 2 bucks on a triple at Belmont. The poker room is average size. Not huge. It's clean and looks beautiful. It's lit nicely and the only set back is that it could be much bigger. You'll scratch your head as to why they have such a huge casino and such an average size poker room. This casino is the best place to be in Atlantic City. But for poker it's only average. The good thing is the daily poker tournaments and the appearances on tv with the world series of poker. You've got to stop at the Borgata if you're in Atlantic City. It's on the bayside and not on the board walk. It's a great place to play poker even though the room will not blow you away. The dealers are great and so are the waitresses. THE BORGATE REVIEW: 4 STARS
HARRAHS: Harrahs is another bayside casino. The casino is gourgous. But they only had a few poker tables when I was last there. Maybe they've expanded poker. The poker tables were in the back by the boat docks. And they were in a tiny room with glass walls which was annoying because people look at you and distract you. The cocktail waitresses dress to conservative. Nothing like the Taj or Borgata where they're half naked. Avoid this poker room. HARRAHS REVIEW: 1.5 STARS
THE TROPICANA: The Tropicana has done massive expansions. 3 hotels, a shopping mall, new casinos, and the restaurants on the boardwalk. This is a 5 star resort. The waitresses are all right, nothing too special. The poker room has grown and grown and they've taken most of the space from the horse parlor and given it to poker. I love the moody lighting, I love the poker players and tournaments at the Tropicana, I love the casino. All the poker games are here. Go give it a shot. THE TROPICANA REVIEW: 4 STARS
BALLYS, WILD WEST, CAESARS, CLARIDGE: These 4 casinos are all connected to one another, all owned by the same company, and all lack poker. There's a few tables here and there. Having the casinos together is nice when you need to walk over to Caesars and check out those hottie waitresses in the low cut skirts because the Wild West and Ballys believe in full clothing and hiring any chick over 50 they can find. The poker that's offered here is nice. Hold em and Stud. Not too many tables but 4 casinos makes for one nice resort. The dealers are friendly and I've met alot of nice players on their tables. REVIEW: 3 STARS.
Atlantic City is a great place to visit. Tons of hot chicks, clubs, bars, and gambling. They offer free poker tournaments, pay tournaments, comps, and more for the poker enthusiast. And they are televised alot for their poker. You've got 7 card stud, Omaha, and Texas Holdem. The typical low limit game is 3-6, and there are maximum games where the per round is limited.
Go the casino websites, easily searched for on the web and find out about the great tournaments at Tropicana, Borgota, and the Taj. The Taj is a sacred place for us poker enthusiasts and I want you to make the pilgrimage there one day. Go give Atlantic City a try and hit those poker tables soon. And don't hit on those cocktail waitresses too hard, you want to keep your mind on the game.
