Why Play Poker?
When I sit down and play blackjack, I don't feel the same level of entertainment as I do with poker. You sit there and it's you vs. the dealer. It doesn't matter who's around. And to be honest it's usually some 70 year old guy with his "escorts" and he's babbling about how life was better before the invention of the car.
There's no level of competition against the fellow players. It's A.N.Other vs the 10 Billion Dollar Casino. I wonder who's gonna win that one?
When I play poker, whether it's at my friend Jack's house, or at the Rio in Vegas, I'm playing against the people sitting next to me. It makes it fun. It makes it entertaining. You can make comments, you can laugh, it's really a stress reliever. And now that I'm starting to play partypoker.com freerolls and dabbling in this online poker stuff, I'm seeing that's just as sociable to.
I sit down at night after a day at my crap job. I don't have to worry about riding to a casino in traffic or changing. To be honest, when I'm playing poker online, I'm in my birthday suit and no one's got to know about it. I can do what I want while online. I can cook a pizza, I can play freaking parcheesee if I want and no one cares.
I can also shoot my mouth off to the other players at the table, and I'm starting to meet a nice click of guys that play with me every Sunday night.
I was never big into slots, although now they've even got them online. I mean, don't get me wrong, when I'm playing poker too long in a casino, I'll take a break and throw $20 in a Reel Em In or Double Diamond Machine. It's fun, it's quick, and it leaves me satisfied.....just like sex. But it's pure luck, no skill. You need skill for poker. But you don't need class, which is great because I don't have any.
Craps goes too fast. I was in Caesars in Atlantic City one night. In 10 minutes I was down 200 bucks. I wasn't even overbetting. My ass has never been so sore and I've never played craps again.
That's why I like poker, especially online. I can play the low limit and not do any heavy damage.
Look, I don't care what you play. Play slots, craps, roulette, blackjack. I'm not the messiah, I'm not trying to convert anyone, but for the money, poker is your best bet.
