Poker Raise When you hit your Draw
This is a highly debated topic. Different players have different views and I can understand why. Everything depends on your playing style. I can tell you what I believe. If you hit your draw on the turn, and there are a number of players in the pot, I would raise or check-raise right there. With many players in the pot, you are more likely to get at least one caller, and the pot will usually be larger which tends to make players call as well. If you are heads up or against a few opponents the decision depends on my position. I would come out betting if I am in early position. Your opponents may be aware of your draw and check the turn, meaning you miss that betting round completely. If I am in late position I will call the turn and try and raise the river(or bet if my opponent just checks.) The reason for this is that I dont want to scare anybody off too early. With few opponents, you have less chance of being paid off.
Raising for a Free Card and Betting for Value
We have covered almost everything about flush draws but there are two important subjects we have not spoken about yet. They both involve betting/raising or leading with a drawing hand. They are The Free Card Play and Betting for Value.
The Free Card Play involves raising your drawing hand on the flop when you are in late position, with the intention of checking on the turn and earning yourself a free river card. Then your draw cost you less money than it would have otherwise.
Betting for Value means to bet or raise with your draw simply because there are enough opponents in the pot that getting more money into the pot benefits you. For any of the draws above, if there are more opponents in the hand than the odds against you(4.2 for a flush draw, etc.), and you expect them to call then you can bet for value. Since more money is going into the pot every time you bet or raise, you actually gain value by doing this.
Conclusion
Now that you know which types of drawing hands to play, and how to play them, the final step will be to learn what to do with strong/leading hands.
